Principal Deputy National Security Advisor Jon Finer met today with Deputy Chief of Staff of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan and Special Representative of the President for International Cooperation Erzhan Kazykhan. They reaffirmed the United States and Kazakhstan’s shared commitment to the core principles of the UN Charter, including respect for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of all states. They also discussed the importance of our bilateral cooperation on food, energy, and health security in light of Russia’s war in Ukraine. The United States recognized President Tokayev’s political and economic reform agenda’s potential to improve democratic governance, promote accountability, and advance sustainable economic development.
