EU Plans Sanctions Against Milorad Dodik

NEW YORK/BRUSSELS (USIntelNews.com) – According to US intelligence officials sources, the European Union plans to impose sanctions against Serbian member of Bosnia’s presidency, Milorad Dodik and members of his family and inner circle.

The U.S. Treasury Department already imposed sanctions against Serbian member of Bosnia’s presidency, Milorad Dodik, saying that Dodik actively obstructed efforts to implement the 1995 Dayton accords that ended the war in Bosnia-Herzegovina. The sanctions imposed by the Treasury Department’s Office of Foreign Asset Control (OFAC) allow U.S. authorities to block access by Milorad Dodik to any of his property or assets under U.S. jurisdiction.

Human dignity, freedom, democracy, equality, the rule of law and respect for human rights – these values are embedded in the EU treaties. The EU Charter of Fundamental Rights is a clear and strong statement of EU citizens’ rights. Therefore, EU sanctions might include further restrictions on Republika Srpska, noting that violent repression against the Pravda Za Davida movement in connection with the case David Dragičević, as the brutal police crackdown on Pravda Za Davida protesters “shocked the conscience of the world,” requires a full investigation into the “horrific attack” on December 25th, 2018 on Trg Krajine in Banja Luka, where police arbitrarily detained peaceful protesters, including older people and children.

Videos of the arrest of David´s parents Davor Dragičević and Suzana Radanović who seek justice for their deceased son cause mixed emotions and shocked the world. Davor Dragičević started the Pravda Za Davida protest movement that has grown into the largest antigovernment demonstration in Bosnia in decades. The Government of Republika Srpska must also take immediate action to respect the people’s right to freedom of expression. EU sanctions might include also “an embargo on equipment which might be used for internal repression.”
