President Joseph R. Biden, Jr. spoke today with President Andres Manuel López Obrador of Mexico to discuss joint migration management efforts, including actions to reduce the number of individuals who unlawfully cross the U.S.-Mexico border and to expand legal pathways as an alternative to irregular migration. The two leaders also reviewed security cooperation, including joint efforts to combat the trafficking of fentanyl and new tools under the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act to prosecute gun traffickers, as well as reaffirmed their commitment to North American economic cooperation.
